Privacy Policy

This policy explains what the Poopverse app for iPhone and Android collects, why, who can see it and what you can do about it. "Poopverse", "we" and "us" mean the operator of the app, reachable at support@poopverse.app.

1. What we collect

Account

• Sign-in: you sign in with Sign in with Apple or with a one-time code sent to your email. Either way we store your email address. With Sign in with Apple this may be an Apple private relay address. The app doesn't save the name Apple can share.
• Profile: your username, your pet's name and look, your time zone (used for streaks, daily resets and quiet hours) and your invite code, plus who invited you if you joined through an invite.
• Age check: when you set up your profile we ask for your birth year to confirm you're 13 or older. We store the birth year and the fact that you passed the check. We use the birth year only for age rules, such as keeping Throne Chat off by default for players under 16.

Bathroom logs ("trips")

When you log a trip we store the place category you picked from a fixed list (Home, The Office, Gym, School, Mall, Stadium, Airport, Beach or Grandma's), when it started and how long it lasted, the poop type, color and sound you chose, your 1 to 5 rating, an optional caption of up to 140 characters, and the coins you earned. While your timer is running we also store a "live" status with the place category. It is removed when you finish or cancel, or after 90 minutes.

Game and social activity

• Your pet's state, coin and gem balances and their history, items you own, streaks, missions, badges, game stats and mini-game scores.
• Poop Town activity: turf visits, raids, decorations and any custom pins you add. A pin is a name you type plus a spot on the in-game map, not a real-world location.
• Friends and friend requests, blocks, pranks, gifts, duels, reactions, feed posts, leagues and league chat messages, and your in-app notifications.
• Throne Chat messages, quick replies and reactions (see how long we keep them).
• Reports you send about other players, including the reason.

Purchases

Poopverse PLUS subscriptions and gem packs are sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play. We record which product you bought, the platform and a purchase reference so we can credit your account. Apple or Google processes the payment. We never see your card or bank details.

Notifications

If you allow push notifications, we store your device's push token and platform, together with your notification settings: which types you want, any pause you set and your quiet hours.

Analytics

We use PostHog to learn which features people use and where the app breaks. The app sends gameplay events such as opening the app, starting and finishing a trip (with its length, place category and poop type), playing mini-games, opening the shop, making a purchase (which product), opening a notification and using Throne Chat (only the type of message, never its text). Captions and chat text are not included. When you're signed in, events are linked to your Poopverse account ID so we can understand retention; the app does not send your email or username to PostHog. Events come with that ID and basic device and app details such as device model, operating system, app version and language. PostHog also receives your IP address when events are sent, which it may use to estimate a rough location such as your country.

2. What we don't collect

• No location: the app doesn't ask for location permission and doesn't read your GPS or device location. The "place" on a trip is only the category you tap.
• No contact list upload: the app only reads your contacts if you tap "Find friends from contacts" and allow access. It then scrambles each email address on your phone with a one-way hash (SHA-256) and sends only those hashes to check which belong to players. Names, phone numbers and the addresses themselves never leave your phone, and we don't store the hashes. You can turn off being found this way under Me → Findable from contacts.
• No microphone: the app doesn't record audio.
• No payment details: Apple and Google handle payments.

3. Camera, photos and your selfie

You can take a selfie, or pick a photo from your library, to put your face on your poop. This is optional and only happens when you tap "Take selfie". The cropped image is saved only on your device, in the app's own storage. It is not uploaded to our servers or sent to other players. It is removed when you delete the app, and taking a new selfie replaces it. If you share a screenshot or badge through your phone's share sheet, it goes wherever you choose to send it.

4. How we use your information

• To run the game: your account, saving your progress, rewards, streaks, badges and purchases.
• To power social features: friends, pranks, duels, Poop Town, leagues and Throne Chat.
• To send the notifications you've allowed.
• To keep things fair and safe: rate limits, anti-cheat checks, filtering links and bad words in Throne Chat, and reviewing reports.
• To understand usage and fix bugs (analytics).
• To answer you when you contact support.

If you're in the EEA, the UK or a similar jurisdiction, our legal bases are: performing our contract with you (running the app), our legitimate interests (security, moderation, preventing cheating and improving the app), your consent (push notifications and camera or photo access, which you can withdraw in your device settings) and complying with the law.

5. Who can see what

• Your accepted friends can see your username, your pet and its look, your stats and badges, your trips (place category, length, poop type, rating and caption), your feed posts, your Poop Town standing, pins and decorations, and when you're "on the throne" and at which place category. They may get a notification when you sit down.
• Throne Chat members see your username and messages while the chat is open.
• League members see the messages you post in that league.
• Daily Toss scores can appear on leaderboards.
• Other players can find you by searching for your username and see your username, pet name and pet look, so they can send a friend request. Your logs, stats and everything else are not shown to players who aren't your friends. Anyone you block can't find you, send you friend requests or Throne Chat with you.

6. Service providers

We share information only with companies that help us run Poopverse, and only for that purpose:

• Supabase hosts our database, sign-in and server functions.
• Expo delivers push notifications through Apple Push Notification service (iPhone) and Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android).
• Apple and Google handle Sign in with Apple, app store payments and subscriptions.
• RevenueCat helps us check purchases and subscription status. It receives purchase receipts and an app user ID, not your card details.
• PostHog provides analytics, as described above.
• Google AdMob: if enabled, rewarded ads are served by Google AdMob. Rewarded ads play only when you choose to watch one for a reward, and Google may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve and measure them under its own privacy policy. Rewarded ads are currently switched off.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect people's safety, or as part of a merger or sale of the app, in which case this policy continues to apply. We don't sell your personal information.

7. How long we keep it

• Account and game data: for as long as your account exists.
• Throne Chat: a chat only exists while you and your friends are all on the throne. It closes when anyone flushes or cancels their timer, when someone blocks another member, or after 30 minutes at most. When it closes, its messages are deleted from our servers. A reported message is kept for up to 30 days so a human can review it, then deleted. Other members could still take a screenshot, so chat kindly.
• Live "on the throne" status: removed when you finish or cancel, or after 90 minutes.
• Data on your device (your selfie, local game state and settings): kept until you delete the app.

8. Your choices and rights

• Turn notification groups on or off, or pause them, in the app under Me → Push notifications. Turn daily reminders on or off under Me → Reminders. You can also turn off notifications completely in your device settings.
• Turn Throne Chat off under Me → Throne Chat, where you can also unblock people.
• Camera and photo access are optional and can be revoked in your device settings.
• Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your data, and to object to or restrict some processing. Email support@poopverse.app and we'll help. We may need to confirm the account is yours first. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

9. Deleting your account

In the app, go to Me → Delete account and type DELETE to confirm. Your account and the data linked to it are removed from our servers right away. If you can't sign in, email support@poopverse.app from the email address linked to your account and include your username (with Sign in with Apple and a hidden email, your username is enough), and we'll delete it and confirm by email. Deleting your account does not cancel a Poopverse PLUS subscription. Cancel it in your App Store or Google Play subscriptions. We may keep limited information where needed for safety (for example, a reported chat message for up to 30 days) or where the law requires it. Apple and Google keep their own purchase records.

10. Children

Poopverse is not for children under 13, and the app asks for your birth year before you can create a profile. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 is using Poopverse, email us and we'll delete the account.

11. Security and international transfers

Data travels over encrypted connections, and our database uses access rules so that only you, and the people this policy describes, can read your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data. Our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where the law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.

12. Changes and contact

If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date above. If the changes are significant, we'll also let you know in the app. Questions or requests? Email support@poopverse.app.
